Access to quality education is essential for the development of any country, but nations like Uganda face ongoing challenges in this area. With limited resources and a high rate of school dropouts, many bright learners never get the chance to reach their full potential due to various social, economic, and political barriers.
Eddie and Maimuna, two bright pupils of from Nakanynonyi Church of Uganda Primary School in Nabaale sub-county, Mukono District, embody the struggles of countless Ugandan learners who risk dropping out despite their abilities and determination.
Eddie, abandoned by his father as a young child, has been raised by his mother, who works tirelessly at manual labor in their village to provide for him and his siblings. Even with her efforts, affording Eddie’s school fees became a growing burden, and she was losing hopes of him completing his primary education.

Maimuna, on the other hand, lost her father at a young age and has been raised solely by her mother, who supports Maimuna and her siblings on a limited income. Faced with difficult choices, Maimuna’s mother made the hard decision to prioritize the education of her oldest children each of them reaching primary seven, as funds were scarce. This meant that Maimuna’s siblings, too, faced an uncertain future, staying home with limited options for further education.

When the team at Furaha Education Initiative heard Eddie and Maimuna’s stories, we stepped in. Our Executive Director, Mubiru Benard, reached out to the school and offered support to ensure that both Eddie and Maimuna could finish their primary education. Through our initiative, we were able to cover their school fees for the entire year, providing them the opportunity to complete their studies.

Thanks to this support, both children have now successfully completed their primary education.
Today, Eddie and Maimuna have reached a significant milestone by completing their primary education, yet the road ahead remains uncertain. Their dreams of continuing to secondary school and building a brighter future depend on the support and kindness of those willing to help. At Furaha Education Initiative, we believe that every child deserves a fair chance to succeed, regardless of their background.
We call upon everyone, individuals, organizations, and communities who share this vision to join us in supporting Eddie, Maimuna, and other promising learners like them. Together, we can help them take the next steps on their educational journeys and give them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Your support can make all the difference in their lives, transforming challenges into achievements and dreams into reality.
